okay, so basically, i have this literature project and i'm supposed to come up with a poem that relates the effects of the latest BP oil spill. this is my first draft and i'm not exactly the very poetic kinda person so please don't be too hard on me
but at the same time, i do appreciate constructive criticism. thanks and i hope you enjoy reading it
~
Life & Death
look into my eyes
and tell me that you’re sorry
i look at the paradise
now just a deathly water body
what have you done
to my enchanted haven
it was once laughter and fun
but now it’s just oil-laden
flippers coated in black oil
unable to swim in the sea of Life
declare a state of turmoil
as what becomes of the wildlife
held back, suppressed
in the aftermath of the chaos
gulf of mexico fully unrest
shores lined by the slick black gloss
i’ve been denigrated
i’ve been held hostage
they’ve been tortured
they’ve been damaged
the loss of everlasting freedom
so won’t you say you’re sorry?
as Death sets upon them
all I can say is, “I’m sorry.”~
so how is it? please comment, thanks!
fyi, this poem is told from 2 different POVs (the bolded and non-bolded). can you guess which POVs they are? hint: one is an animal, one is not
do tell me if you are unable to tell cause it means i need to work on emphasizing their characteristics a little more
